Kids Tag Art Pinellas is a community partnership program that brings businesses, students, families, government, and the public school system together to increase awareness about the importance of arts in our community. It is an elementary art curriculum that teaches children how art is used in commerce while raising needed funds to support arts education throughout Pinellas County.
Elementary art students created their own unique vanity tag that anyone can purchase for the front of their cars. All funds raised directly support arts education in Pinellas County. One dollar from the sale of each tag benefits the St. Petersburg College Foundation’s “I AM 4 ART, U CAN B 2” Scholarship Fund. Remaining proceeds from tag sales and community sponsorships are given to the Pinellas County Schools Visual Arts Department to be used exclusively as supplement funding for art enrichment programs and supplies for participating schools.
According to the Arts Education Partnership’s Preparing Students for the Next America report, “Arts programs support student achievement in school, bolster skills demanded of a 21st-century workforce and enrich the lives of young people and communities.” It is imperative that Pinellas County students have the opportunity to not only think creatively but also strategically. Kids Tag Art provides the opportunity for students to expand their horizons and learn about the economic benefits of arts in Pinellas and throughout the world.
